I’m one of those curious people who wants to understand the reasoning or purpose behind things. In elementary school, a leap year was described to us as an extra day in February occurring every 4 years. I accepted the answer, and didn’t think anymore about it – until now.
So why does leap year exist? According to Wikipedia, it’s a
“corrective measure, because the Earth does not orbit around the sun in precisely 365 days.”
